Q lounge chair
The original design for the Q chair was made back in 2013, with only a 3D model, disregarding for proportions, ergonomics, and manufacturing process. After some time developing it, we finalized the whole idea. Borrowing the construction idea of the Seven Stool, the legs and back support are all manufactured separately in a CNC router, and joined together to be a single piece in assembly.
As all pieces are mirrored and smart designed to fit a solid wood board, production becomes quite simple and easy. As for the seat and back rest areas, they both come out from the same bending mold, also making it cheaper.
Q Lounge chair is a low and big furniture, aiming to fit all body types and make it comfortable during long R &R hours.
Main materials are solid Tauari, a strong, lightweight and cost effective Brazilian timber, for the legs and cross support bars, bent molded veneered plywood with colored rubberized paint. All exposed wood areas are sealed and applied varnish, for protection against weather damage.
Q Chair was selected to participate in the 2015 Rio+Design exhibition, during the city's design week.
